Meet Alex: A mIsFiTs Empowerment Story

I used to think photoshoots were for “other people”—the ones who already looked confident and knew exactly how to pose. I was the awkward one, the overthinker, the person who never quite felt at home in their own skin.
But something about mIsFiTs Like ME called to me. Maybe it was the promise of radical inclusion, or maybe I just wanted to see myself the way my friends did—strong, creative, a little bit weird (in the best way).

Walking into the studio, my nerves were buzzing. Matthew greeted me with a smile and zero judgment. We talked about what empowerment meant to me, set some boundaries, and then—slowly—I started to relax. The music was good. The space felt safe. For the first time, I wasn’t trying to hide anything.

Matthew guided me through poses, always checking in, always making me laugh. When I saw the first image on the camera, I almost cried. I didn’t look “perfect”—I looked powerful. Real. Like myself, but more.
