mIsFiTs Like ME is a St. Louis boudoir photography studio dedicated to LGBTQ+. Radically inclusive in practice, and unapologetically welcoming to every body, every identity, every expression. We don't do "LGBTQ+ friendly" as a footnote. We do it as a foundation.
Whether you're trans, non-binary, genderqueer, pansexual, lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, or still figuring out what the label even is — you belong in front of this camera. Exactly as you are. Right now.

Matthew D. Kauffmann is a Certified Professional Photographer with nearly 25 years of experience and a theological conviction that every person carries inherent dignity. Imago Dei - the image of God - isn't a metaphor here. It's the operating principle behind every session.

Every LGBTQ+ boudoir session at mIsFiTs Like ME includes a pre-session consultation where we talk about how you want to be seen, how you want to be addressed, and what sacred authenticity looks like for you specifically. There are no wrong answers. There is no mold to fit.
Our studio is located in Belleville, Illinois — minutes from St. Louis, O'Fallon, and Fairview Heights — in a private, discreet studio where your privacy is protected as fiercely as your dignity.

Do I have to identify a specific way to book a session? Not at all. You don't need a label, a category, or a fully formed sense of your identity to walk through this door. You just need to want to be here. That's enough.
Is the studio truly trans and non-binary affirming — or is that just marketing language? It's foundational, not a footnote. We ask how you want to be addressed and what pronouns you use before we discuss anything else. The session is built around how you want to present — not assumptions about how you should. If you've been burned by studios that claimed inclusivity and then made you feel like an afterthought, we understand that skepticism. The consultation is a good place to test it.
Can I bring a partner or support person? Yes. Partners are welcome in the studio. If your partner is participating in the session, they're treated with the same care and zero judgment as you. If they're there for support, they're welcome to stay or step out — whatever makes you most comfortable.
I've never done boudoir before and I'm nervous. Is that normal? Completely normal and extremely common. Most clients arrive nervous. Most clients leave transformed. The session moves at your pace — there's no clock, no pressure, and no pose you're required to hold if it doesn't feel right.
